Social Security, And Water Management - 1579 Words

The whole idea of a bureaucracy is still so confusing to me, but its main purposes are to build roads, maintain social security, and water management. A different method of government we looked into was how Dutch parliament works. They pride themselves into making sure that they see every side to that particular situation. They make sure their members all represent different opinions with different voices. I think this is a fantastic way to run government because people are there to make them look at all of the sides and play devil’s advocate. But one downside that I think would come up is that maybe after seeing all of the sides it might be hard to make a decision. Many people believe that the downfall to using bureaucracy is that they†¦show more content†¦Everyday there is waste being dumping into our water sources and no one is held accountable, and even if people do try to do something, they are often shut down or the other company is too big and strong and canâ⠂¬â„¢t be taken out by a lawsuit. In my math class, we were learning about voting methods, and there was a documentary that we watched called Uncounted. It was based on the 2000-2004 elections and how there was increased amounts of vote fraud and people not being able to vote. This also reminded me of the article that we read in class that argued that we had one of the worst election processes in the western world democracies, and I’m beginning to think that we do. There was one individual who was a worker for the law firm who represented the computer voting systems made by Diebold. One night he was given an audio tape that he had to transcribe and it was explaining how they voting machines were rigged. He was enraged that this was happening to the American people. So he decided to be a supposed â€Å"whistleblower†. In this chapter there was many examples of when this happens in companies and what they do to those supposed whistleblowers. In this guy’s case he ended up being convicted of three felonies for breaking a confidentiality agreement. In his mind though, he was helping the community by letting them know what was happening to their votes. Luckily for him, Diebold was held accountable
